Impetus Portugal – Têxteis, S.A., started its activity in the textile sector in December of 1973 with only 6 workers. Nowadays, with 12 companies and approximately 700 employees, the group reaches an annual production of 15.000.000 articles.The technological level, the organizational and logistic capacity as well as the know-how acquired throughout four decades of activity, position the company in the forefront of the male underwear fashion industry in Europe. Presenting a completely vertical structure, the Group is specialized in the production of Cut & Sew and seamless articles, providing its customers an excellent service that covers the development, IDT, production and shipping. The whole production is exported to markets such as Europe, Canada, United States of America, Australia, China, Mexico and Japan.

IMPETUS HEALTHCARE

In 2010, the group expanded to create Impetus Healthcare. This area focuses on the development of textile products to meet different healthcare needs.

ProtechDry® was the first brand to be launched. Ultra-absorbent, washable and anti-odour underwear especially designed for people with urinary incontinence. Its patented technology is considered a class 1 medical device by Infarmed.

TR&D PROJECT

Impetus Portugal Têxteis, SA is developing an TR&D project, supported by Compete within the scope of the Companies Incentive Scheme.

This project, with eligible investment of 533,762.45 Euros, started in May 2008 and has a duration of two years. It is being carried out with Tecminho - Interface of the University of Minho as the preferred partner.

This project aimed to develop a portfolio of diverse and multifunctional products customised for use in the area of protection. Woven mesh textile manufacturing technology was used in the production of various items of protection suitable for specific needs in different risk circumstances. Depending on the type of application and risk situations, various features were included in the protective items, such as protection against extreme cold, electrostatic protection, protection against shock and protection against spillages. These features were therefore implemented in the portfolio of products developed, making use of different types of functional fibres and using different types of structures.

SI PROJECT - INNOVATION

Impetus Portugal Têxteis, SA is developing an IS -INNOVATION project, supported by Compete, within the scope of the Companies Incentive Scheme. This project, with eligible investment of 4,272,536.77 Euros, started on 31 December 2010 and has a duration of two years.

This project aims to develop a portfolio of diverse and multifunctional products customised for use in the area of protection. Woven mesh textile manufacturing technology was used in the production of various items of protection suitable for specific needs in different risk circumstances. Depending on the type of application and associated risk situations, materials that incorporate a range of features to be included in the protective items are used, such as protection against extreme heat and fire, protection against cutting and puncturing and protection against micro-organisms. These innovative features are therefore being implemented in the portfolio of products under development. This is achieved by using different types of functional fibres and using different types of specific structures, with special focus on multilayer structures and patchwork.
